FLOKATI FOR BEDDING

7/27/2020 1:39 PM

Around the 5th Century A.D., the shepherds began using the sheep’s wool to help protect themselves during the cold winter months where the temperature can dip below 32º F (0º C). The first forms of the Flokati were shaggy or shag resemblances of the modern day Flokati rug, as the shepherds had yet to realize the full potential of the sheep’s wool. The origin of the modern day Flokati was a serendipitous moment. The Samarina shepherds had left one of their woven wool blankets in the waters of the Pindus Mountains, unattended for nearly two days. Once they remembered their wool blanket, the shepherds returned to the stream where they had left their wool blanket and noticed that the backing felted, and most importantly the wool had unraveled and flourished. This was the first, fully flourished Flokati rug. Little did the shepherds know that the wool they relied on to stay warm would become a luxury for millions upon millions of people around the world for centuries to come. It would become – the Flokati rug.

HOW TO VACUUM A FLOKATI SHAG RUG

11/26/2019 10:55 AM

YOU CAN EASILY VACUUM A FLOKATI RUG. (EVEN IF YOU HAVE A ROTATING BEATER BRUSH)

THE TRICK IS TO VACUUM IN ONE DIRECTION. IN OTHER WORDS-  DON'T GO IN A FORWARD AND BACKWARD MOTION. PLACE THE VACUUM IN THE CENTER OF YOUR FLOKATI RUG. THEN PULL THE VACUUM BACK TOWARDS THE EDGE. PICK UP THE VACUUM AND PLACE BACK IN THE MIDDLE AND REPEAT. THIS PROCESS WILL WORK WITH ANY VACUUM--AND WILL MAKE YOUR FLOKATI SHAG RUG LOOK GREAT.

Follow these instructions and it will come out perfect every time.

1- Wash with wool-lite (or any other MILD detergent)

2- Use COLD water – Delicate setting.

3- Use a ton of liquid fabric softener – The wool will eat it up. This will keep the wool soft.  Use 3 to 4 times the recommended amount.

4- Air dry or tumble with NO heat. Heat will shrink the pile.

5- **Optional : Using a stiff bristle plastic hair brush ---Brush the wool. It makes the pile look great. Don't be afraid to use some force when brushing. Some wool will come out in the brush-- that is completely normal. You can do this after the rug has dried or while its damp. Its a great finishing touch.

LOW PROFILE FLOKATI RUG

1/19/2018 10:07 AM

Introducing the LOW PROFILE flokati rug.! has a cropped pile--shorter than traditional flokati rugs while still mainting the plush-ness and thickness of a traditional rug. Why buy this? This is a great choice for high traffic areas. Its slightly easier to maintain too since it has a shorter pile-which makes it easier to vacuum. This rug looks great and is availble in the NATURAL and WINTER WHITE colors-in popular sizes. Email of call us with questions: info@flokatirug.net / 800-844-5345lowpro

Washing and flokati care

9/12/2017 9:20 AM

I get this question all the time--  "HOW DO I WASH MY FLOKATI RUG? "   Follow these simple steps:

-Use COLD water
-Use a MILD detergent made for wool ... (Like wool-lite) Wool detergents don't leave a    film or residue that can make the pile dull.
-Here's a big trick.. USE A TON OF FABRIC SOFTNER. I mean four times the suggested  amount. The wool in the rug will eat this up and it will make the wool nice and soft.
-You can tumble dry at low low low heat or no heat. Its prefered to air dry if you have  that ability.
-Another trick is to use a stiff bristle hair brush while the rug is drying.. Brush slightly to  straighten the wool while its drying. Some wool will come out in the brush.. thats  normal. It will make the pile look great.
-You're done.!
