Flokati Shag Care

10/6/2015 10:31 AM

  • Routinely shake to remove dust/dirt and raise the wool pile.
  • Use a regular HAIR brush to comb pile if there are any flat spots.
  • Flokati rugs may be vacuumed… Canister vacuums work best w/out the rotating brush.
  • There are several FOAM cleaners on the market for WOOL rugs. We like "Resolve".  Readily found at most larger retail food chains and Home Improvement stores.
  • Spot clean with a mild detergent (Woolite) and Cold Water. Don’t be afraid to get in there with a brush to remove any stains.. Flokati rugs are tough.
  • Spot clean spills with a damp cloth- Flokati shag is inherently stain resistant due to the natural oils in the wool.
  • Depending on size: Flokati rugs are Machine Washable:

COLD Water only- Mild detergent- Gentle cycle  (if applicable)

     Air Dry ONLY. NO DRYERS.

SHAGGY FENG SHUI

11/5/2014 8:53 AM

SIMPLE FENG SHUI TIPS

1. Less is more.
Removing excess furniture and belongings is good start. Keeping a room clean and clutter-free has a calming effect on the mind. Repeat this process often.

2. Color is important.
Each of the five elements has meaning and colors associated with it. It is important to archive a balanced representation of all five in your room or space. You can use paint, artwork or furniture to help bring in all five elements.

3. Fresh air is healthful
Stale air is bad for your health and mental state. Open your windows when you can and try to get a cross breeze. If your home or office does not have enough windows, invest in a small air filter.

4. Plant life brings calm
Plants have a calming influence while radiating a strong and peaceful energy. Plants also make great air purifiers if buying a machine is too costly.

5. Mirrors add space

Mirrors help give the illusion of space, so they are very good for offices or hallways. They also bring in light from other areas of the house.

6. Keep bedrooms balanced
Your bedroom is important and its energy should be inviting, calm and exciting all at the same time. Help create this energy by removing all electronics or exercise equipment in the room.

7. Keep living rooms clear
For your living room, it is best to have an unobstructed flow of energy. Arrange your furniture with this in mind. It helps to envision water flowing. Would the water get blocked? Would it flow evenly throughout the room?

8. Keep kitchens bright
Your kitchen needs to be bright and welcoming. This can be achieved with several light sources, plant life and open windows. Yellow is a popular feng shui choice for most kitchens.

There are many books and magazine articles devoted to the art of feng shui if you are interested in more in-depth information. Happy decorating!

5 QUICK TIPS FOR PAINTING A ROOM

10/12/2014 11:50 AM

1-Prep work!
Fill any holes or imperfections with spackle, wait for it to dry, and then lightly sand the patches.
Use paintable caulk to fill any gaps between the walls and trim before painting the trim.
Make sure your walls are clean.
Remove dust, dirt, and grease spots (which can ruin a smooth finish) with water, a little mild dishwashing detergent,
and a cellulose sponge.
Rinse walls with clean water to remove the soap residue.
Stir your paint before you begin, and don’t paint straight from the can.

2-Blue Tape!!
Tape the trim, window, and doorframes
Be sure to use painter's blue tape, which can be applied up to a week ahead.
**Remember to remove tape immediately after painting,
before the wall dries, so you don't peel off any paint with it.

3-When in doubt : Use a Primer.
It's a common myth that walls that have been painted many times don't need to be primed.
In fact, primer helps maximize the sheen and coverage of paint and gives the finish coat a more uniform appearance.

4-When to Brush - When to Roll
Brush where you can't roll.
Brush on paint around trim and in the corners of walls, where your roller can't reach, with a two-inch angled brush.
Extend out two to three inches from windows, doors, and moldings.

5- Paint your room.

Paint the remaining wall using your roller. Once all your prep work has been done.. Painting the rest is easy.
